Dr. Oliveira serves as the Brazil Country Director for the One Health Global Alliance (OHGA). He is also a Full Professor in the Department of Animal Science at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), Brazil, where his work focuses on zoonoses and public health, with particular emphasis on integrated food safety, the epidemiology of foodborne pathogens, and antimicrobial resistance.

His research interests include the genomic epidemiology of antimicrobial-resistant foodborne pathogens, the animal microbiome, and applied microbiology in animal production systems. Through his research, teaching, and extension activities, he advances interdisciplinary approaches that strengthen the interface between animal health, food safety, and public health.

He is a co-founder of the International Congress on Pathogens at the Human-Animal Interface Global Consortium, later renamed the Global One Health Initiative (GOHi). He currently holds a Level A Research Productivity Fellowship from the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and was recently nominated to the Steering Committee of the Global Microbial Identifier (GMI) initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
