Dr. King is an advisor at OHGA where he provides strategic guidance on scientific research implementation. Dr. King has been actively involved since the predecessor of OHGA, ICOPHAI was established in 2011 serving as keynote and plenary speakership In Ethiopia (2011), Brazil (2013) and Canada (2019). Dr. King is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and Dean Emeritus, Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He previously was Interim Dean and University Vice-President for Agriculture at the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Ohio State. Dr. King has also served as the Director of the National Center of Zoonotic, Vector-borne and Enteric Diseases with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2006-2009, and was the Administrator for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service at the USDA where he also served as the Deputy Administrator for Veterinary Services and the Chief Veterinary Officer for the United States. His expertise focuses on leadership in One Health, emerging infectious diseases and zoonoses, food safety, global health, public health, and One Health. Dr. King has been active in antimicrobial resistance issues and served in the Presidential Council appointed by the Secretary of DHHS.
