Tequam Worku, DrPH, MPH

Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Worku is the Chief Operating Officer at OHGA providing strategic and operations oversight of activities across the organization. Most recently, she worked as a Study Director at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) with portfolio including studies on U.S. CDC’s federal quarantine stations’ response to emerging threats; regulatory processes for rare disease drugs in the United States and European Union; and the development of the Long COVID disease definition. Her previous experience includes working at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, managing federally funded projects to support state health agencies on a number of issues including ending the HIV epidemic, workforce, chronic diseases and the development of healthy communities. Dr. Worku has also worked internationally supporting knowledge management and data analysis efforts at the national level. With a background in health policy and public health, she brings extensive experience in leading projects and building effective partnerships to promote equitable health outcomes.
