Founder and CEO

Professor Gebreyes is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at OHGA, formerly ICOPHAI. He is a Hazel C. Youngberg Distinguished Professor and is the founding Executive Director of the Global One Health initiative (GOHi) at The Ohio State University. He is an elected member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine (NAM) and the National Academy of International Education. Professor Gebreyes is also Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and member of the U.S. NIH Fogarty International Center Board of Advisors. Over the course of his career, he has led various programs and initiatives funded by organizations including NIH, CDC, USAID, Gates Foundation, CDC Foundation, RESOLVE to Save Lives and other industry partners. He has also served as an advisor to numerous national and international entities including Brazil CAPES, Austria COMET program, Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Higher Education among others. Professor Gebreyes is a recipient of numerous awards including the APLU Michael P. Malone International Leadership Award; NIH Gold Medallion; and Universitas 21 Best Internationalization Model Award.
