Michael S. Bisesi, PhD

Prof Bisesi serves as a board advisor to OHGA. He is Professor Emeritus of Environmental Health Sciences and an environmental and occupational health scientist with extensive experience in research, practice, and academic leadership. He is a Board Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), ABIH–BGC Diplomat, AIHA Fellow, and Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS, NJ – inactive).

A generalist by training and practice, his work spans industrial and community environmental health, including both field- and laboratory-based research. His areas of expertise include chemical, microbial, and physical contaminant characterization, environmental monitoring and disease surveillance, contaminant control strategies (engineering controls, personal protective equipment, and administrative measures), and emergency recognition and response. Over a 33-year academic career (1991–2024), Prof. Bisesi held multiple concurrent leadership and faculty roles across three universities and several colleges, including public health, medicine, graduate studies, and health sciences. His leadership positions included serving as Vice Dean/Senior Associate Dean for 18 years and Associate Dean for 15 years.
